Emily “Mott” Mottesheard grew up in a small town in West Virginia, spending the majority of her summers hiding up in trees or traveling up the tiny river in a homemade raft. Most family vacations were either camping trips at picturesque West Virginia State Parks or swimming at Carolina beaches. This helped her discover a deep love of nature and the forests of Appalachian mountains.
Mott’s art runs the gamut between whimsical pop culture art experiments and deeply emotional paintings exploring nature and mythology. She travels to conventions and local art shows, however is quite comfortable living the small town life in the hills of North Central West Virginia with her family and assortment of pets.
